One of my personal favorite venues to photograph weddings in Western North Carolina is The Farm at Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, NC. There are a variety of gorgeous backdrops for beautiful wedding photography at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn, such as the Orchard, a field with small trees with gnarly branches, a beautiful wooden bridge, pretty lake, and mossy areas surrounded by trees, just to name a few. It’s equally beautiful every season of the year, including in the dead of winter when the surroundings are covered in ice which sparkles on the trees and crunches lightly underfoot.
For portions of the wedding that are to be held indoors The Farm has a stone and wood building that was created around a renovated barn. It has spaces that work nicely for each ceremony and reception. With high, beamed ceilings, and large stone fireplaces, you can add the perfect finishing touch to the ambiance of your wedding and reception with the glow of firelight. The feeling of Old Edwards Inn and it’s property The Farm is a wonderful combination of rustic, warm, and refined.
As for your wedding guests, they will love it too! The Old Edwards Inn is a charming hotel with a very nice spa. It is upscale and refined and yet not at all stuffy. The main gathering areas of the hotel have a warm and inviting feel with lots of dark wood, cozy overstuffed furniture, and Persian rugs. In addition to the original Inn, the Old Edwards Inn also has a sister property with additional lodging options. For activities, the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking, and golf are nearby. The town of Highlands is super cute, great for strolling, and with a couple of nice gift shops for browsing. In addition there is also a very nice spa on property.
